Recently, Slovakia has been living with a revival of the national tradition, an awareness of the roots of its ancestors, as well as the history of geopolitical space. Folklore techniques have also succeeded in penetrating contemporary clothing.
However, traditional folk clothing also provides semantic information about the character, psychology, talent and cultural level of our nation. Slovakia is, both in Europe and worldwide, quite exceptional in the originality and diversity of our costumes.
The aim of the feature-length documentary is to present an exceptional range of techniques and motifs used in traditional clothing and to show the general public also experts of local patriots who do not have the opportunity to publicly share their experience and rich knowledge of the issue. By leaving them, we may lose precious traces, testimonies of our identity. Slovak costumes, as bearers of beautiful stories, often hidden in encrypted symbols, will acquire new interpretations thanks to regional experts and will bring a new perspective to this rare cultural phenomenon.
