About the film Colette
Riveting drama about the power of love and a desire for freedom. The story is dedicated to Arnošt Lustig and everyone who survived the Holocaust. The film is inspired by the story of Slovak inmates Alfred Wetzler and Rudolf Vrba (who’s real name was Walter Rosenberg), who managed to escape from Auschwitz and were the first to reveal to the world the truth about the crimes against humanity.
Arnošt Lustig belongs to one of the most world-famous writers, and his novel Colette is based on his life experience in concentration camps as well as his personal insight into several escapes from Auschwitz. The author – a Pulitzer Prize nominee, along with the screenwriter and director Milan Cieslar used the film to communicate the power of love, and to show how a man in dire situation finds the courage to face death and plans the escape from an impasse.
